General FAQs

FAQs
Who can manage race results?

Anyone. You do not need to be a track or sanctioning body to manage race results. Moreover, the monthly ad credits provided in compensation for managing results are fully transferable. So, you can give the earned ad credits to your favorite track, driver, sanctioning body, etc.

Are racing results protected by copyright law?

No. Race results are considered factual data and can be transmitted, recorded and published without seeking approval. Copyrights are for protecting the creative compilation or expression of data or information. For example, the look and feel of Motorstats is copyrightable; the factual data we present is not.

How does Motorstats pick a data manager?

Our first preference is to work directly with a track or sanctioning body. If they are not interested, we will select the candidate which has the best ability to manage the data in a timely fashion (we will provide more detail on the process later). We will always require a confirmation from the track or sanctioning body that they are not interested (we are not here to make enemies).
